     Explore Yosemite’s front country on your own. Meet your guide in the early evening at the backpackers campground. Go over gear and itinerary, set up camp, and eat a hot cooked meal.

DAY TWO

     Embark from Glacier Point with a stunning view of Yosemite Valley. Ascend into a sprawling meadow at the foot of Mt Starr King. After a wholesome and hearty dinner, drift to sleep with the sound of a rippling stream.

     Penetrate deeper into the backcountry. Stand in awe at the reflection of red rocky cliffs on Lower Ottoway Lake. After setting up camp, swim to a pristine island, and enjoy the restful silence that can only be found above 10,000 feet!

DAY FOUR

     Climb above 11,000 feet while crossing lonesome Red Peak Pass. Ahead, infinite layers of twisted pinnacles lie beneath our vantage. Listen as ducks call out to their families next to clear mountain lakes.

DAY FIVE

     The small brook next to camp picks up speed in gentle meadows, small cascades, and then a startling drop into a monumental valley. We swim beneath a small waterfall and snuggle into our tents for the night.

DAY SIX

     Transcend the narrow passageways of Lost Valley and set up camp in the shadow of majestic Half Dome. Watch climbers, like tiny ants, make their way down the slick cliff. Spend the night enjoying our campsite neighbors’ tales of adventure!

    After breakfast, we make our way along the John Muir Trail greeting eager hikers just starting out. We reflect upon how far we have come, and how much we have accomplished, in the wild, vast heart of Yosemite National Park.
