DAY ONE

Explore Yosemite’s front country on your own. Meet your guide in the early evening at the backpackers campground. Go over gear and itinerary, set up camp, and eat a hot cooked meal.

DAY TWO

     Hike the shore of the sunny Hetch Hetchy reservoir. We feel relief as we pass under the cool spray of Tueeulala and Wapama Falls. After a steep climb, we arrive at Rancheria Falls, one of the most picturesque campsites in the park!

DAY THREE

     A steep climb brings us to stunning Tiltill Valley, a seemingly infinite meadow. After traipsing through an extraordinary array of wildflowers, we settle down next to Tiltill creek and cook dinner. The sun sets purple on the peaceful fields.

DAY FOUR

     Awaken early to climb out of the valley and deep into the isolated reaches of the park. We realize we haven’t seen another soul for three days in this withdrawn range. Veering off-trail, we scramble over rocks to camp by the shores of a hidden mountain lake, so secluded, it was never named.

DAY FIVE

     Today, we travel on sensational cliffs with valley views. We stop for lunch along the Pacific Crest Trail. By the early evening, we arrive at Tilden Lake. Surrounded by pink and purple mountains, we marvel at the clarity of the water and take a dip.

DAY SIX

     We follow Falls Creek as it plunges through Jack Main Canyon. Keep an eye out for river otters! An adventurous river crossing brings us to a lake so remote that we may see bears comfortably playing in the water! After quiet time at the lake, we camp below a cliff glowing blue in the moonlight.

DAY SEVEN

     As we travel on the edge of Moraine ridge, we are rewarded with extensive views of the valley, lakes, and waterfalls below. Up here, we stop for lunch with an invigorating breeze. We spend our last night at Laurel Lake, where we play games and partake in a campfire ritual.

DAY EIGHT

     Watch for bears in Beehive Meadow! As we head downhill, we marvel at new views of Hetch Hetchy and reflect on our past selves first laying eyes on the water- we have changed so much during our adventure. We cross the dam and say goodbye to this far-flung world filled with insight.
