Stand atop an overlook and admire volcanic features. Mudpots pop and bubble. Colorful springs reflect the sky. Cross the hot steaming Witch Creek, and make camp under a Heart Lake sunset.
8 miles | +350 ft, -700 ft

DAY TWO
Awaken to birds calling across the still water and eat a hot breakfast cooked by your guide. Hike past views of stunning Mount Sheridan and ford two creeks before setting up camp in a colorful western meadow.
6 miles | -200 ft

DAY THREE
Follow the winding Snake River through grassy meadows and remote forests filled with grizzly bears. Track their paw prints in the muddy trail! Ford the Snake River confluence and drift off to sleep after a swim in the water.
3 miles | +100 ft

DAY FOUR
Arrive at the far side of Heart Lake. Our voices echo off Mount Sheridan. Make camp on a hill above the water. After dinner, stroll the sandy beach looking for beaver, bear, elk, and moose tracks!
