Meet Jesse

Owner, The Lamplighters Adventuring Society

Stationed around the world with a Marine Corps dad, Jesse was born into action.

Jesse was a hiking guide in Upstate New York, a sea kayaking guide in the Prince William Sound, and a fly-in backpacking guide in the Alaskan backcountry. In Utah, he led teenage boys through a therapeutic wilderness program. He even hiked all 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail!

Jesse feels right at home in Yosemite. Talk to him about Russian novels and scary movies, or ask him to entertain you with his storytelling skills!

“I have used multiple outfitters before. I also worked for one. I was still totally impressed by Jesse. He was such a knowledgeable guide who truly loves his job. He answered all my questions. We had so much fun with him and his games! I felt really safe with Jesse. He was such a good cook. I was surprised by the delicious food we ate every night. I learned how to make better meals for my own clients”

“Amazing backpacking trip through Hetch Hetchy with Jesse. He was attentive, knowledgeable, experienced, and fun. It was a perfect adventure with games, story-telling, and off the beaten path conversations. If you’re a novice backpacker like me, I highly recommend Jesse and The Lamplighters. Jesse will put you at ease and make sure you have an amazing adventure in the Sierras.”

“I am not a hiker, but I went with my family on the adventure to Half Dome. Jesse left nothing overlooked. He laid out exactly what to expect, the gear we needed, and even how to train. It was one of the greatest physical and mental feats I’ve ever faced, but Jesse had completely prepared us to climb the daunting and treacherous dome!

I created a special bond with my family by overcoming our fears together and completing such an arduous goal, and I learned to appreciate the great outdoors. This may sound cliche, but this memory truly was about the journey on the way to completing our goal. I can’t say enough about what this adventure represents to me. Anytime I think I can’t do something, I remember this adventure. “

“Jesse had historical knowledge and unique insight adding depth to each place we experienced. We ate some of the best camping food (and some of the best food period) that he prepared for us. Even through a torrential rain storm, Jesse lead us with confidence and ease pitching our tents in the right spot to ride out the rain and stay dry and all the while we still managed to have a blast. I will never forget our magical trip.”
